Toyacoyah was living in San Jose, CA when she first discovered
electronic music. It wasn't until the spring of '95 that she
attended her first party. Soon afterwards she was hooked on
the culture. Moving to Oklahoma for college, she discovered
that same dance culture attending club EBM's in Oklahoma City
each weekend. Dancing was fun, but she wanted to do more to
support the scene. After hearing Dieselboy's '95 Supreme mixtape,
she was inspired to start her DJ career.
In
the summer of '96, Toyacoyah bought her first drum n bass
record and she was hooked. She began collecting records throughout
1996 and 1997, and played her first gig in January of 1998.
Toyacoyah also hosted the "Recipe for Chaos" radio/TV
show on The Wire, broadcasting drum n bass and downtempo goodness
every Saturday night from 10-1am.
After
graduating from college, Toyacoyah moved to Austin, TX where
she shared production/DJ duties on TXH's
"Studiopressure" broadcast on Blastro.com.
She has recently joined forces with DJ/Promotional crews Abduction
Productions and Realtime
Syndicate based in Dallas, TX. Toyacoyah has performed
in Oklahoma City, OK, Austin, Houston, El Paso, Dallas, and
Ft. Collins, CO.
